* Soya bean: Soya bean in any form like soya milk, whole beans, soya flour etc… are proved to control the blood sugar levels in diabetes. It is also prevents numbness of feet and shivering of hands that commonly occur among diabetics.

* Chana Dal: It helps in the utilization of blood sugar effectively thus causing a slow rise in blood sugar levels. Have steamed dal based dishes for breakfast.

* Bitter Gourd: The juice of bitter gourd with seeds or the cooked vegetable is beneficial for diabetics. It reduces sugar levels in blood and urine. If you prefer to go with this drink, it is advisable to do so on an empty stomach or before meals.

* Black Plum:  This is said to be a boon for diabetes. Dried powder of the leaves of this plant is also very effective in lowering blood sugar levels. One tablespoon of black plum powder and amla powder has proven to be very useful.While following this diabetes diet, avoid foods such as dried fruits, creamy salad dressings, aerated drinks, pickles, canned and so forth.
