
Studies after studies have confirmed and reiterate the role of yoga and diabetic herbal tea to activate the pancreas and keep blood sugar under control. A study published in the journal, Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine say that regular yoga practice led to short term improvements in fasting glucose and cholesterol levels. So, here are a few yoga poses to trigger pancreas and lower blood sugar level.
Pranayam
Pranayam involves breathing in deeply and exhaling out and this oxygenates blood and improves blood circulation.
Steps to Follow:
- Sit cross legged in a yoga mat, straighten your back and keep your chin parallel to the floor.
- Place your hands on the knee with palms facing upwards.
- Close your eyes, breathe in deeply and then exhale slowly.
- Repeat this process for at least ten times.
Balasana
Balasana is a stress buster and fondly called as the child’s pose. It is also helps for lower back pain that you may experience from long hours of sitting.
Steps to Follow:
- Sit on the floor with your weight on knees. Then, flatten your feet on the floor and sit on heels.
- Now, exhale and bend forward from your waist. While doing this ensure that your stomach rest on your thighs.
- Stretch out your arms in front of you, rest your forehead on the floor and elongate your back.
- Now breathe at a normal rate and stay in this pose for two to three minutes.
Dhanurasana
This yoga pose is considered to relieve stress and fatigue, menstrual pain and constipation. This is said to strengthen your back and spine.
Steps to Follow:
- Lie on your stomach with arms side by side of your body.
- Fold your knees and hold your ankles.
- Lift your chest off the ground and pull your legs up and back. (Like a boat)
- Look straight with a smile on your face. While doing this breath in deeply After 15 -20 seconds, as you exhale, gently bring your legs and chest to the ground and release ankles.
Performing these asanas and sticking to a strict diet plan helps diabetes control.
